Los Angeles, CA – Farmworker Justice will host its 2019 Los Angeles Awards recognizing the social justice impact of four nationwide and community leaders on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Studio-MLA at 6:00 p.m.

Farmworker Justice’s events provide an opportunity to bring together supporters and contributors from the business, legal, government, and nonprofit communities to report and highlight our important work. They also serve in recognizing individuals, businesses and other organizations that have demonstrated leadership, commitment, dedication and sacrifice to address the ongoing plight that farmworkers face each and every day in America.

Farmworker Justice President, Bruce Goldstein, will provide keynote remarks on the state of farmworkers in Los Angeles and the State of California. Bel Hernandez and Naibe Reynoso, television hosts forTheTrendTalk TV Show will serve as event hosts. Master Chicano artist, Yolanda Gonzalez will feature exclusive paintings of her work for the silent auction.

This year’s honorees are Paul Schrade, longtime organizer and farmworker activist, The Dolores Huerta Award; Barbara Carrasco, Chicana artist, activist, and muralist, Lifetime Achievement Award; Jim Garrison, President of Pacific Federal, Corporate Responsibility Award; and Sophie Cruz, Community Service Award.

“Farmworker Justice is pleased to honor four individuals, ranging in age from pre-teen to nonagenarian, who, each in his or her own way, have been fighting for justice for America’s farmworkers. We appreciate our volunteers from the entertainment industry and art world who are joining us to make the Los Angeles Farmworker Justice Award Reception a very special and memorable evening as well as an impactful contribution to the quest for justice for farmworkers in the fields, in the courts, in government agencies and in Congress,” stated, Bruce Goldstein, President of Farmworker Justice.  “During the first half of the 20th century, Los Angeles County was the largest farm producer among counties in the U.S.; despite urbanization, the value of L.A. County’s agricultural products exceeds the entire farm production in three states.”
